I used to say to myself: “I want to be a writer”, and this goal seemed so huge and complicated that it would paralyse me into passiveness. I now realise that the only way of creating what we want for the future is to put all of our love and energy into the present. So now, I simply say to myself: “Today, I will write”.
“You don’t set out to build a wall. You don’t say ‘I’m going to build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall that’s ever been built.’ You don’t start there. You say, ‘I’m going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid’. You do that every single day. And soon you have a wall.” ~ Will Smith
LOVE this! I’m definitely going to keep your philosophy in mind. I’m doing NaNoWriMo this month and having a daily goal and target for the month is incredibly helpful. Best of luck in all your writing pursuits—look forward to see the fruits of your labor!
Best of luck for NaNoWriMo! I would be very happy if these quotes could help you 🙂
Thank you! They have! I’m at 32,318 just by writing every day. 😉
Wow well done!!! Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Hit 40K today—almost there. How’s your writing going?
Congratulations!!! My 6AM Writing Challenge is coming along well – with some surprising and wonderful effects on my life. I think it’s making the time to do what I love that has such a positive effect on my life, rather than the writing itself. It’s empowering to give myself time to myself.
Awesome! High five!
Great post! Short and deeply inspiring. 🙂 I’m taking these words with me today, “I now realise that the only way of creating what we want for the future is to put all of our love and energy into the present.”
Happy Monday!
I am glad that you will be taking these words with you – I hope they will bring something positive into your day!
So true. This is food for the soul.
