I Remember the Important Things

15 Sep

sunset rays behind trees

I remember the important things.

Like the words to my favourite songs,

Or the way you smiled the night we met.

I remember the important things.

Like what was written in a letter,

Or the way the sun rays shined through the trees.

I remember the important things.

Like the smell of lavender skin,

Or the billions of stars we fell asleep counting.

I remember the important things.

Like the murmur of August leaves and her sad smile on the last day of summer.

One Lovely Blog Award

26 Aug

Love Out Loud was recently awarded the One Lovely Blog Award by the awesome ToeMail!

“We appreciate the time and energy it takes to run a good blog and so we have nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award! We would be honored if you accept this award!”

ToeMail is one of the most original blogs I have come across. Posting photos of toes in the most diverse places on Earth, ToeMail never fails to surprise and entertain. ToeMail has inspired many of my own photos and has made me discover a whole new creative way of capturing memories!

As part of the award, I am to share 7 things about myself with my readers:

1) For the past two years, I have been trying to live with as few material possessions as possible.

2) I am taking part in the 120-day “Do What You Love” Challenge, in which I have decided to write every day for four months.

3) Nature always calms and grounds me.

4) Somewhere deep inside, I have a wise inner voice.

5) I believe that the heart is our best decision-maker.

6) I really enjoy photography, but haven’t practised it for several months.

7) Poetry is the whispering of the soul….

In turn, I am awarding the following blogs the One Lovely Blog Award:

These are the three photography blogs that I follow, because every one of their photos makes me take in a breath of awe.

Thank you ToeMail for the lovely award and thank you to all those wonderful people who stop by at Love Out Loud!

I Choose Beauty

4 Jul

I have been using Louise Hay’s 2012 “I Can Do It” calendar every day this year and the daily messages in the calendar never fail to transform my day in a positive way.

Today’s message, for example, is as follows:

I am free to be who I want to be, living my life as I choose.

As I sat down to do my morning writing, all my thoughts revolved around this beautiful and enlightening message. The following words flowed from my pen:

I choose travel.

I choose learning.

I choose writing.

I choose nature.

I choose yoga.

I choose walks.

I choose loving relationships.

I choose honest friendships.

I choose simplicity.

I choose hard work.

I choose challenge.

I choose games.

I choose creativity.

I choose beauty.

I choose health.

I choose reading.

I choose flowers.

I choose quietness.

I choose movement.

I choose dance.

I choose photography.

I choose contemplation.

I choose taking my time.

I choose music.

What do YOU choose?

Look, Listen, Live

19 Jun

When walking down the street, switch off your ipod and listen to the birds.

When riding on the metro, lift your eyes off your paper and smile at the person opposite you.

When stuck in traffic, turn off the radio and sing your favourite songs with all your heart.

When on a long journey, put your laptop away and look at the incredible trees lining your route.

When back home from a long day at work, get off the sofa and go to watch the sun set.
