The Universe’s Advice

6 Jun

Walk gently but strongly,
Like you’d wade through the sea.
Listen to your breathing
And spare a thought for Me.

Walk gently but strongly,
And let the people pass,
You are not the only one
Grazing on this grass.

Walk gently but firmly,
You know the path to take.
Don’t let them distract you,
Live for your Truth’s sake.

Walk gently but surely,
The way a Love would walk;
You are the flower,
The root, the leaf, the stalk.

Walk gently but wisely,
Believe in every move,
And it shall be worth it,
Your journey shall be smooth.

I Can Do That Today

14 May

A businessman bought popcorn from an old street vendor each day after lunch. He once arrived to find the peddler closing up his stand at noon. “Is something wrong?” he asked.

A smile wrinkled the seller’s leathery face. “By no means. All is well.”

“Then why are you closing your popcorn stand?”

“So I can go to my house, sit on my porch, and sip tea with my wife.”

The man of commerce objected. “But the day is still young. You can still sell.”

“No need to,” the stand owner replied. “I’ve made enough money for today.”

“Enough? Absurd. You should keep working.”

The spry old man stopped and stared at his well-dressed visitor. “And why should I keep working?”

“To sell more popcorn.”

“And why sell more popcorn?”

“Because the more popcorn you sell, the more money you make. The more money you make, the richer you are. The richer you are, the more popcorn stands you can buy. The more popcorn stands you buy, the more peddlers sell your product, and the richer you become. And when you have enough, you can stop working, sell your popcorn stands, stay home, and sit on the porch with your wife and drink tea.”

The popcorn man smiled. “I can do that today. I guess I have enough.”

Life Loves You

3 Jan

“Last year had many restrictions, and it took hard work and diligence to build the foundations you desired. This year you will find much more freedom. Welcoming change will allow your boundaries to expand. Let the old ideas go, and do something different or unusual. Always remember that Life loves you and will support you in all your endeavors. The year 2012 can be a very satisfying one.”

Music Monday – Bountiful, Blissful, Beautiful

12 Dec

Every Monday, I post a song or piece of music that I like. I ask you to close your eyes for three minutes and simply listen to the music that I have posted. Listen to it for the sake of listening to music, for the sake of being moved by music and for the sake of experiencing the world through your ears, not through your eyes.

You may like or hate the songs that I post, but one thing is sure: in closing your eyes and listening to music, a new world will unfold in your mind. It is the world of the imagination.

Happy listening.

(Don’t forget to close your eyes…)

If there are songs or pieces of music you love, please share them with me and other bloggers by posting their title in the comments section. That way, we can all open up our musical horizons together!

Happiness Project – Week V

8 Dec

I once read somewhere (possibly in the Conversations With God series) that in order to know who we are, we must first know who we are not. Could the same theory work for happiness? During this past month of my Happiness Project, I have come to realise a few key things that make me unhappy.

I have written a list of these things below, with an accompanying reminder that could help me reverse my thought process and turn unhappiness into positivity.

Things that make me unhappy (and their antidote):

1)      Thinking about the future.

2)      Comparing myself to other people.

3)      Trying to live up to other people’s expectations.

4)      Focusing too much on myself.

5)      Being too busy.

6)      Spending too much energy on my job.

7)      Living by other people’s rules/beliefs/values.

8)      Judging myself – negatively.

9)   Losing faith and hope.

In what way can you reverse these to create joy and fulfilment?
